And it’s exceptionally important to have the installation work completed with precision first-time around to avoid problems with the sod not rooting properly, and not growing properly forever after, leaving a lawn looking unhealthy and sparse. That’s why, in this post, our Greater Calgary experts will answer several common sod installationquestions.

When is the Best Time to Install Sod?

Sod can be installed throughout the year, even on frozen ground, but is best done, especially for the sake of watering after, between May 1st – Oct. 30th. This is why it’s so important to work directly with your local Calgary sod installationspecialist to determine whether the timing is right for your specific requirements.

How Quickly is Sod Ready for Use?

Sod products often take quickly within the home lawn space. Homeowners will find they can walk on the area within 2-3 weeks of installation. And because the product is highly durable, it will remain lush and functional for many years.

How do I know if I can Install Sod on my Property?

Sod can be installed in almost any location. Our Kentucky Blue Grass sod is grown for 2 years before harvesting, right here in Southern Alberta, for the local Calgary and area climate. How Much Water does My Sod Lawn Require?

When watering a lawn, the most important element of the process is to be consistent. This means if you water your lawn, ensure the area receives full water coverage. In general, lawns require one inch of water per week from either rain or applied water. It’s best to water heavily once per week, for an hour in each area, than to water several times per week for short periods. This helps promote deeper root growth, and healthier lawns. If it’s above 25 deg, water heavy twice per week, with a few days separation , and always water in the early morning, if possible.
